Speaker CHIEF INSPECTOR (RETIRED) GARY RAYMOND, OAM.
Gary Raymond – Retired Chief Inspector, NSW Police Force who has received numerous Awards, Medals and Commendations for his bravery during his 33 years with the Police Force. Apart from his heroic efforts at the Granville train disaster, the Thredbo landslide and the Newcastle Earthquake, Gary was involved in over 1500 rescues ranging from motor vehicle and domestic through to suicides, sieges and explosives.
Gary was, or currently is, a Member of the NSW Peer Support Working Party involved in helping traumatized or suicidal police officers, the Leader of the Christian Police Association NSW, Vice President and Senior State Chaplain to the NSW Volunteer Rescue Assn, NSW, a State Member of the Drug Arm Board, facilitating Street Van Teams and other Street Level drug prevention programs and conducting workshops helping to defuse aggressive behaviour in the workplace.
More recently Gary worked in Tsunami-affected areas as an advisor to Government Medical Officers at the Galle Hospital Mortuary dealing with hundreds of tsunami victims’ bodies, conducting training and education workshops to Community and Church Leaders in Critical Incident and Post Traumatic Stress Management for tsunami survivors and their families, as well as counselling large numbers of tsunami survivors in refugee camps. Closer to home he conducted trauma & suicide prevention workshops to the victims and emergency managers of Cyclone Larry and counselled devastated cane and banana farmers in the aftermath.
Gary’s unique experiences ensure that he is a sought after speaker in Australia and overseas.
